2024 PREVIEW
Abington Heights put up a winning record for the first time since 2016 so Coach Joe Repshis feels like his program, after several years struggling to compete in the LFC, is on the upswing. With some veteran players up front and playmakers in the passing games, the Comets could take the next step in being mentioned with the league leaders.
Nick Bradley had a breakout season in 2023 throwing for over 2,000 yards. Although he will lose his top two receivers, he should still be one of the best quarterbacks in the district. New receivers Shawn Theodore, Shane Brower and Gavin Anders all have potential to become major forces in the passing game. Noah Kayal, Evan Davis, Anthony Severs, and Domnick Pasqualichio will provide depth. The Comets are still looking for a capable running back to balance the offense and Dominic Vergnetti, Luke Evans, Ethan Opeil, Severs, Kayal, and Dylan Jaramillo all are in the mix to get carries. Cayd Sespico returns at tight end and will be backed up by Logan Bohn
Abington is hoping they turned the corner in being more physical up front and have four starters returning including left tackle Asiel Richards, left guard Brandon Lezinski, center Myles Knott, and right guard Liam Fick. A.J. Abda takes over at right tackle. Brendan Dougherty, Anthony Chillari, and Jocsan Muentes will provide depth up front.
Sespico is back at defensive end and will be joined by Abda, Knott or Bohn on the other side. Richards returns at defensive tackle with Lezinski, Fick, and Muentes expected to get playing time inside as well. Anders will play outside linebacker with Brower, Opeil, and Severs providing depth. Chillari returns inside with Gavin Kareha, Vergnetti, and Gavin Padula also getting snaps. Kayal is a returning starter at cornerback with Rocco Sarafinko and Jaramillo competing for the other side. Theodore got playing time last season at safety and will be joined by Evan Davis and Pasqualichio.
Jack Farrell is back as the placekicker with Bradley handing the punting duties again. Chillari is the long snapper.
