ABINGTON HEIGHTS 42, SCRANTON 21
Nick Bradley threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns as Abington Heights cruised to a 42-21 win over Scranton.
The Comets trailed early as the Knights’ Memphis Shotto scored on a 23-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.
Abington got it going in the second quarter with a three touchdown barrage which included touchdown passes 66 and 21 yards from Bradley to Shane Brower. Sandwiched in between was a Dom Vergnetti 1-yard score and the Comets led 21-7 at halftime.
The Comets would increase their lead when Bradley found Shawn Theodore for a 30-yard touchdown pass to make 28-7. Shott returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards to get the Knights their first score of the half and cut the lead to 28-14.
Abington Heights found the end zone again halfway through the fourth quarter with Bradley’s final touchdown pass of the evening to Gavin Anders.
The Comets’ Rocco Sarafinko would return a Brody Coyle interception 60 yards for the Comets final score of the game. Dion Ang would score the final Knights’ touchdown with an 18-yard run.
Abington Heights (5-4, 3-3) moved into the No. 1 spot in Class 5A with a non-conference season finale Friday night at home against Hazleton Area. Scranton (5-4, 1-4) will travel to Milford on Friday night to take on Delaware Valley.
