2023 PREVIEW
The Wolfpack had a winning record in 2022, but were hit hard by graduation and defections going into 2023. Wilkes-Barre still has enough quality players to compete in the division and hope some of their newcomers will make an impact early in the season.
Jake Howe returns for his second season at quarterback and expect the Wolfpack to rely on him to throw the ball more this season. Devon Underwood steps in at running back with Howie Shiner leading the way as a blocker at fullback. He also rushed for 667 yards in 2022. Gabe Saracino, Trevor Gembitski, Hassan Howard, Ariel Lopez and Jovan Goodwin will all be in the mix at wide receiver and Connor Kelly, Nick Saracino, and Bobby Delescavage are in consideration at tight end.
The offensive line will be rebuilt around returning starter Jimmy Gryskewicz. Gio Gonzlaez, Michael Ruiz, Connor Chaple, and Noah Smith are expected to fill the other spots. The faster the offensive line progresses, the better the entire offense will be.
Delescavage, Connor Kelly, and D.J. Battle will be considered at the defensive end spots while Gryskewicz, Gonzalez, and Jakhi Jackson will rotate at defensive tackle. Max Gregor returns at outside linebacker and Gabe Saracino and Howard will also get a look there. Shiner is back at inside backer with Logan Sincavage, Essa Gigo, and Gene Ardo battling for playing time at the other spot. Gembitski, Underwood, and Donte Robinson will fill the corner spots while Goodwin will be the safety backed up by Lopez.
Egidio, Ardo, Jaedyn Sanchez, and Chapplel will all be involved in the special teams phase for Wilkes-Barre.
