2023 PREVIEW

Pat Keating is the new head coach at Tunkhannock after some time away from high school football after a successful run at Wyoming Valley West. He acknowledges he needs to build the program from the bottom up and 2023 will be the start of that process.

The rebuild will start with a new quarterback as Joey Ross moves from wide receiver to behind center. Evan Montross and Caden Simmers will be the running back and fullback as they are interchangeable at those positions. Landon Balcavage will provide depth. Austin Holiday, Bow Garrett, Daniel Browning, and Carter O’Neil will compete for the wide receiver positions. Logan Ross and Karver Lewis are the tight ends.

Willard Corker and Brock McClain will be the offensive tackles while Brody Gregory, James Thomas, and Logan Konnen will be in the mix for the guard positions. Cooper Thomas will be the center.

McClain, Mekhi McNichols, and Gregory will be in the rotation at defensive end. Gregory, Cooper Thomas, James Thomas and Konnen are possibilities at defensive tackle. Lewis, Simmers, and Ryan Moyer will get opportunities at outside linebacker and Logan Ross and Montross will play at inside backer. Joey Ross returns as the leader of the secondary at either position. Holiday, Garrett, and O’Neil will be the cornerbacks. Browning is a possibility at safety.

Special teams players including kickers will be decided in training camp.

QUOTE FROM COACH KEATING: In year number one we are building a foundation in our program based off structure and accountability. Unfortunately, our players did not get a full offseason in a brand new system, so there will definitely be a learning curve. Having said that, the players and coaches have worked very hard this summer towards having success in the 2023 season
