2024 PREVIEW
Nanticoke had a successful 2023 season winning seven games and a district playoff game. However, veteran coach Ron Bruza retired, and the Trojans graduated a huge and successful senior class. Scott Dennis returns to the Wyoming Valley Conference and hopes to carry that momentum into his first season at Nanticoke which will be a challenge with lots of holes to fill. The players will have to adjust to a new offense and defense which might take some time.
Michael Stachowiak will return at quarterback and will be more important than he was in Wing-T defense that was run for years at Nanticoke. Treston Allen and Chris Julian will take over at tailback and have big shoes to fill replacing the team’s all-time leading rusher. Eugene Gyles is the new fullback. James Bush and Jaidyn Fondeur will be the new starters at wide receiver while Manny Soto takes over at tight end.
Left guard Josh Guschak is the lone returning starter on the offensive line. The projections for the other four spots: left tackle Samad Pridgen, center Reagan Jackson, right guard Owen Atkins, and right tackle Ryan Gensel.
Sosa and Atkins will take over at defensive end while Guschak, Gensel, and Kaden Danko will be the interior linemen. Allen returns at linebacker and will be joined by Mike Taylor, Gyles and Jackson. Dennis Allen and Fondeur will be the starting cornerbacks with Chet Beggs penciled at safety. There will be competition for other spots in the secondary. Juan Pablo Pastuizaca will be involved in the kicking game.
QUOTE FROM COACH DENNIS: After graduating 26 seniors, our team has inexperience at some key positions. In evaluating our team this summer, it is clear we have talent. The biggest challenge will be making enough progress to develop into a good football team.
