The visiting Trojans of North Pocono used a bruising ground attack and 2 touchdown strikes from sophomore quarterback, Chase Zimmerman, to run away from Nanticoke by the score of 46-7 just two days after Nanticoke lost their head coach Scott Dennis. The visitors from Moscow thoroughly dominated the contest, scoring the game’s first 46 points.

North Pocono got touchdowns from backs Brady Lavery, Josiah Gray, Lukas Koch, Joe Briskie,Jayden Taylor, and Michael Stout en route to their opening night victory. Nanticoke Area, who lost 26 seniors to graduation, struggled to find footing against a North Pocono defense which had a huge size advantage. Stout and Koch were on the receiving end of Zimmerman’s two scoring tosses.

North Pocono used strong performances from seniors Mason Richards and Karsen Gibson, as well as from behemoth junior tackle, Dylan Caster, as they prevented Nanticoke Area from scoring any offensive touchdowns. The lone Nanticoke score came on a kickoff return from freshman, James Bush, which concluded the scoring.

North Pocono will play their home opener next weekend against Pittston Area as Coach Greg Dolhon’s young but talented team looks to begin the season 2-0.
