NANTICOKE 14, TUNKHANNOCK 12

Treston Allen scored his second touchdown of the game on a short run with 1:06 remaining Friday night to lift visiting Nanticoke to its first win of the season, 14-12, over Tunkhannock in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 opener for both teams.

The result left both teams with 1-3 overall records.

After Nanticoke was outscored 127-7 in the first three games, the Trojans defense played well enough to keep the team in the game and put Allen in position to win it.

The Trojans scored first and last. They held the Tigers scoreless in the second half.

Allen had a 3-yard touchdown run and Manny Sosa added an important two-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead five minutes into the game.

Tunkhannock moved in front 12-8 with a pair of second-quarter touchdowns.

Karver Lewis scored on an 11-yard run and Andrew Lupinski scored on a 26-yard run.

Nanticoke (1-3, 1-0) is at home Friday in a non-league game versus Crestwood while Tunkhannock (1-3, 0-1) hosts Wyoming Area in a WVC Division 2 showdown.
