2024 PREVIEW
The Comets seem to have more success in the even years which is good for the 2024 season. They have won the district in 2014, 2020 and 2022. Despite a losing record last year, they have enough firepower returning to be a major factor in the WVC 1 and Class 4A. No doubt Crestwood will be contenders this season.
Jaden Shedlock is back for his third season as the Comets quarterback. When he has been healthy, he has been one of the best quarterbacks in the WVC, especially using his track speed when running the football. Crestwood will continue to run the single wing and will have some new help in the backfield for him with Matthew Bealla and Jake Jeckall getting time at tailback. Eli Meadows returns at fullback and will be backed up by Emmit Seyer. Carter Lazo is a returning starter at wide receiver with Jack Rodgers and Carter Kennedy expected to see time at the other receiver spot. Giovanni Barna will provide depth. Lincoln Bibla is back as the tight end, but he will line up in the backfield and as an H-Back as well.
The offensive line is anchored by the return of left tackle Aleks Jaskiewicz and right guard Kyle Draina. Dane Dilodovico is a returning starter at left guard. Brady Cook is expected to be the new center and Matthew Urban will take over at right tackle.
Jaskiewicz and Urban return at defensive end and Draina is a returning starter at defensive tackle. Dilodovico, Cook, and Corbin Sellers will also be in the rotation on the defensive front. Bibla is back at inside linebacker and will be joined by either Kennedy or Jeckall. Meadows and Seyer are returning starters at inside backer and Bealla will provide depth inside. Shedlock returns as a starting cornerback with either Barna, Thomas McLoughin, or Carmen Chiverella playing on the other side. Lazo returns at safety with Nate Walsh his backup.
Ethan Zabroski will be the placekicker and Cooper Laubach will also be involved in the kicking game.
QUOTE FROM COACH ARCANGELI: Senior offensive/ Defensive line that needs to help carry us through some tough weeks as some young skill players find their way. Play making QB with weapons at TE and WR that will certainly help take heat off the OL, and 3 returning LB’s will help on the defensive side. If we are able to stay healthy through a very challenging schedule, we have no doubt we will be in position to have success every Friday.
