2025 PREVIEW
Wallenpaupack is settling in under second-year head coach Matt Nawrocki. After establishing the foundation and standards he wants for the program, the Buckhorns should continue to improve in 2025, leaning on a big offensive line while their skill players continue to develop.
The offense will feature a new quarterback, Jake Rafferty, an athletic and intelligent leader under center. He’ll be supported by a strong running game, with Logan Caruso and Ed Kiesendahl forming a reliable one-two punch at tailback. Evan Huber steps in as the new fullback. At wide receiver, Mason Gonzalez returns as a starter, joined by Izzy Rodriguez and Bryce Pagano. Ryan Vargo will take over at tight end.
Up front, the Buckhorns return four starters: left tackle Nico Bowers, left guard Christian Gutierrez, right guard Jamie Stiner, and right tackle Tyler Gallo. The center spot will be decided between Reilly Lemin, Sawyer Jones, and Pedro Earl.
Defensively, Wallenpaupack should be stronger with plenty of experience back. Gallo, Gutierrez, and Stiner return on the defensive line, with Bowers providing depth. Caruso anchors one outside linebacker spot, while Vargo, Aidin Wormuth, and Johnathan Morales will rotate on the other side. Kiesendahl shifts from the secondary to inside linebacker, where Huber, Wormuth, and C.J. Doty could also see time. In the secondary, Rodriguez returns at cornerback, while Gonzalez and Pagano will compete for the opposite side. Rafferty is back at safety, with Jeff Klikus or Anthony Kiesendahl in the mix for the other spot.
Doty returns as the Buckhorns’ placekicker.
QUOTE FROM COACH NAWROCKI: Our team and coaching staff are very excited about what we can do in the 2025 season. We have a ton of great players returning and feel very good about the players coming in to fill for the players we lost from last season. If we can stay healthy and focused on getting better each week then I think that we can be a very dangerous team. We are going to make a name for ourselves by playing with a chip on our shoulder week in and week out.
