2023 PREVIEW
The Spartans struggled last season with a young and inexperienced roster. But those young players got experience in 2022 and that should help Mid Valley be more competitive on the field in 2023.
The good news is quarterback Jordan Chmielewski returns with a full season under his belt behind center. Brett Yanoski will be his backup. Jakob Lesher returns at running back with Jayden Manson and Mason Vinasnky providing depth at the position. Aiden Fedorka and Cole Marcinko will see time at fullback. Victor Holt, Connor Hughes, and Connor Bartlett bring athleticism to the wide receiver position while Charles Davey will be at tight end with Gavin Rapoch, Rhys Williams, and Jake Bondy also could be in the rotation at the position.
The offensive line is set with left tackle Chris Setzer, left guard Kaleb Perry, center Rob Mattioli, right guard Nick Jackson and right tackle Gavin Richards.
Williams and Bondy will occupy the defensive end positons with Jackson and Richards returning at the defensive tackle spots. Setzer and Mattioli will provide depth inside. Hughes returns at outside linebacker with Davey slotted for the other side. Manson and Michael Loven could also see time there. Rapoch is a returning starter at inside linebacker with Parry expected to get time next to him. Marcinko and Fedorka will be the backups. The secondary is experienced with Holt and Lesher back at the cornerbacks and Chmilewski at safety. Daniel Pimentel, Wyatt Youngblood, and Nick Pinto will provide depth.
Davey will take over the kicking duties while Bondy returns as the punter.
