2021 PREVIEW
Covid-19 was tough on student-athletes in 2020 but probably nobody was affected more than Abington Heights football. The Class of 2021 lost their senior season and underclassmen lost a year of development. But the Comets are ready to come back for the upcoming season and to compete in the LFC. The team will be inexperienced with only one returning starter from 2019 but there is some talent in the program.
P.T. Cutrufello is penciled in as the starting quarterback with some JV experience and will be backed up by Hutch Lynott and Colin Davis. Matt Show, who was on the varsity roster as a freshman, is slated to be the starting tailback while Nick Deremer will be the fullback. Austin Boersman will provide depth at both back positions. Roman Cutrufello, Jack Burke, Christian Henzes, Mason Fedor, and Gavin Kerrigan will all get looks at wide receiver while Nico Bossi will be the starting tight end. Kerrigan and Burke could also line up at the position as well. Christian Lezinski and Cole Reese will lead the offensive line with Patrick Landers, J.J. Gorrick, Connor Casey and Connor MacPherson all competing for spots on the unit.
On defense, Bossi, Burke, Casey, and MacPherson will be playing at defensive end. Lezinski started as sophomore at defensive tackle and will be joined up front by Landers and Gorrick. Kerrigan, Boersma and Show will rotate as the outside linebackers while Deremer should be inside. Bossi could also be moved from the defensive line to the linebacker level as well. Both Cutrufellos, Show, Henzes, Fedor and Davis are all candidates for the secondary. Michael Hartshorn will both kicking and punting duties.
