2026 PREVIEW
Wilkes-Barre was hit hard by graduation, losing a significant amount of talent from last year’s district and subregional championship team. However, the talent always seems to be there for the Wolfpack. Inexperience will likely be the biggest challenge early in the season as players adjust to new roles, but the potential is there for Wilkes-Barre to remain competitive.
Quarterback is the biggest hole to fill, but Declan Gregor has seen playing time in recent seasons and will take over the position full time. Matthew Cinti provides depth.
Khalil Smith takes over at running back, with Kymoni Hubbard Jones and Anthony Daniel also expected to get carries. Aiden Gilmore steps in at fullback, with Ethan Hooper, Noah Monsour, and Altamir Terry providing depth.
The receiving corps has experience but will feature new starters Rajan Watson and Hanover Area transfer Deacon Eisenbach. Jayson Sanchez, Jayden Pena, Wonder Woods, Jack Kapelan, and Omar Contreras will also compete for playing time.
Nic Saracino returns at tight end, with Gino Dalessandro, A.J. Mackey, Toby Hanson, and Angel Bautista providing depth.
The offensive line returns two starters in center Quincy Jordan and right tackle Denzel Herrera. Darius Fluker, Elijah Williams, and Deondre Groce Louis will compete for the left tackle position. Derrick Nah and Shawn Davis are expected to battle for the left guard spot, while Marcos Leva, Williams, and Sheyheem Staley Breckenridge will compete at right guard.
Defensively, Saracino and Gilmore return at defensive end, with Smith, Herrera, Bautista, and Hanson providing depth. Terry returns at defensive tackle, while Nah, Fluker, Davis, Gavin Griffith, and Christian Perez are expected to rotate on the interior.
Dalessandro is back at inside linebacker, with Hooper the favorite to start alongside him. Monsour, Cassius Crawford, and Josiah Cannon will also see time at the position. Kymoni Hubbard Jones and Quadri Hubbard Jones are the projected starters at outside linebacker, with Daniel, Dominic Mercadante, and Kapelan providing depth.
Watson is the lone returning starter in the secondary and will be joined at cornerback by one of Sanchez, Pena, Woods, Josiah Ash, or Jaden Perdomo. Eisenbach is expected to start at safety, with Latonio Jones and Damonni Pingue providing depth.
John Mendola, Nolan Franchella, and Kelan Slivinski will compete for the kicking and punting duties. Gregor and Hooper are expected to handle the long-snapping responsibilities.
