2023 PREVIEW

The Trojans have watched the Class of 2024 make significant contributions to the team since their freshman year. That experience has Nanticoke thinking this is the year they could compete for division and district titles.

At quarterback, Payton Kepp has been cleared to play after suffering a knee injury and gives the Trojans a dual-threat player at the position. His easiest job will be to hand off the ball to All-League running back Zack Fox who rushed for over 2,600 yards the past two seasons. Treston Allen will be the backup at both quarterback and running back while Sam Petrini will also see time in the backfield. Mychal Julian will return at fullback while Landon Lore and Manny Sosa will line up at wide receiver. Nanticoke has two capable and experienced players at tight end with Seth Raymer and Jaidyn Johnson.

The Trojans return three players up front including All-Star Ryan Wiaterowski. Mike Park and Steve Armstrong are also returning starters. Joshua Guszak and Seth Petrosky are the two new starters on the offensive line.

Raymer and Johnson are returning starters at defensive end while Wiaterowski returns at defensive tackle. Park will take the other spot up front. Allen is the only returining starter at linebacker. Brandon Emel, Petrini and Armstrong will man the other three spots at the position. Kepp and Fox are experienced in the secondary with Sosa being added to the starting lineup.

Fox and Allen will return kicks, Park will handle kickoffs, Wiaterowski extra points, and Raymer returns as the punter.

QUOTE FROM COACH BRUZA: With a ramped-up coaching staff, new field, and many guys returning on both sides of the ball, expectations are high at Greater Nanticoke Area. However, staying healthy and eliminating mental mistakes will be key .
