2020 PREVIEW
Coach Nick Barbieri knew when he took the Pittston Area job, it would be a process and might take some time. Despite being inexperience in 2020, he feels the young players are buying into what the program is doing and hopes this will start to pay off on the field.
P.J. Pisano did get some snaps at quarterback in 2019 and now will be the fulltime starter. Bryheem Patterson takes over at running back while David Sudo is the new fullback. There are big shoes to fill at wide receiver and Anthony Thomas, David Behm and Gino Triboski will get the chance to do that. John Symons is the new tight end for the Patriots
Pittston Area does get a boost from the return of Stephen Yanchis who was injured last season plus three starters return -Teagan Reboli, Brandon Farrell and Joe Galonis. Jack Albert is the newcomer to the unit.
Galonis is the lone returning starter on the defensive line and will be joined by Sudo and Yanchis. Jimmy Spindler and Symons return at linebacker while Behm and Reboli will fill the other spots. The secondary will have four new starters including Sein McCracken, Triboski, Patterson and Thomas.
Thomas will handle kickoffs while Matthew Soy is the placekicker for extra points and field goals. Behm is the punter.
