2025 PREVIEW
Scranton Prep continues to be dominant in District 2. The Cavaliers have just one loss to a district opponent over the past two seasons, have won four straight district titles, and are the defending LFC Division I champions. However, for the first time in years, Prep enters the season with more questions than answers. A talented senior class has graduated, but with new talent ready to step in, the Cavaliers should remain a major contender.
Will McPartland, the most productive offensive player returning, will eventually play quarterback. The question is when he’ll be ready, as he suffered an injury in the 2024 season finale. Until then, sophomores Owen Jeffers and Caden Whetsel are expected to take snaps. Prep features two promising young running backs in Anthony Prince and Brandon Farmer, with Sal Talarico, Braedon McPartland, and Henry Barrett providing depth. Caleb Rutkoski is projected to start at fullback, backed up by McPartland and Barrett. The wide receiver corps will be led by Mackey Lynett and A.J. Croom, with Noah Krzywiec, Liam Haggerty, Aidan Straw, and Jack Mendola adding depth. Sean McCormack returns at tight end, with Jaxson Silfee as his backup.
Up front, the Cavaliers return two starters: center Owen Dadurka and right tackle Anthony De Los Santos. Kaleb Pagnotti brings experience at left guard, while Elijah Myers will step in at left tackle and Andrew Dempsey at right guard. Cosmo Ligorio will provide depth across the line.
Myers and De Los Santos return to anchor the defensive line, joined by Dadurka, McCormack, and Rickey Dewey in the rotation. At linebacker, Lynett and Pagnotti bring experience, while Braedon McPartland, Dempsey, Rutkoski, Barrett, and Finn Mulligan will also see time. The secondary will be new until McPartland is back. Mendola and Croom are the frontrunners at cornerback, with Krzywiec and Haggerty pushing for time. Farmer and Talarico are expected to handle the safety spots.
Tyler Bianchi returns to handle the kicking duties, giving the Cavaliers a reliable option in the kicking game.
