Dominant was the first word that came to mind when you asked someone about Paul Gaughan’s football ability. Gaughan was the anchor of the offensive line for two seasons that saw the Bucks win a Lackawanna Football Conference Division II title and recorded an unbeaten regular season record in 2014. Both his junior and senior seasons, Dunmore had 1,000 yard rushers.
Gaughan was a 2010 NPF Lackawanna Football Conference Division II first-team offensive lineman. He was awarded the Hookey Reap Award (best lineman in the Lackawanna Football Conference) for offense. Gaughan was named an all-state offensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Football Writers and first-team all-state offensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Football News and alos first-team by EasternPaFootball.com. Gaughan was selected to play in the Big 33 Classic, but instead chose to play in inaugural Chesapeake Bowl (the best players from N.J., Pa. and Del. against the best from Md., Va., D.C. and W.Va.). Gaughan played his college football at Division 1 FBS Boston College.
Former Dunmore coach Jack Henzes on Gaughan: “Paul Gaughan was an excellent blocker on offense and committed himself to the weight room. He had great foot work for his size. He excelled in classroom.”
