We expect players to improve as their high school careers progress. Matt Cavallaro went from a good quarterback his junior season to producing one of the best single season performances by any quarterback in the history of the Lackawanna Football Conference. He threw for 2,728 passing yards and 34 touchdown passes. For his career, he ended up with 3,755 passing yards and 42 touchdown passes. He also was the place kicker his senior season and made 40 of 43 extra points and a field goal.

Cavallaro was named 2016 NPF Lackawanna Football Conference Division I Offense Player of the Year and first-team quarterback. He was also named a 2016 all-state quarterback by the Pennsylvania Football Writers and an honorable mention all-state quarterback by the Pennsylvania Football News. He was also named an honorable mention quarterback by EasternPAFootball.com. Cavallaro also was the recipient of the Fiore Cesare Award for the best player in the Lackawanna Football Conference and he was named a member of the WNEP Dream Team. After graduation, Cavallaro pursued a career in ice hockey before returning to football in 2019. He was the starting quarterback for Lackawanna College and led the Falcons to the JUCO National Championship game. He will continue his football career at Division 1 FBS West Virginia University.
