With a combination of size and athleticism, Ronny Tomasetti was a major contributor for Mid Valley on both sides of the football. He was a three-year starter on offense and defense and a team captain his senior season. On offense, he played wide receiver and was an accomplished downfield blocker. Tomasetti caught 108 passes for 1,892 yards and 14 touchdowns during his career. On defense, he played linebacker and had 167 career tackles, 11 sacks and 3 interceptions.
Tomasetti was named a 2012 NPF Lackawanna Football Conference Division II first-team linebacker and wide receiver. In 2012, he was also named honorable mention all-state wide receiver by the Pennsylvania Football News and named a second-team wide receiver by EasternPAFootball.com. Tomasetti would continue his football career at Division 2 Kutztown University where he was a team captain his senior season and compiled 119 tackles and 19.5 sacks while starting 34 games on defense for the Bears.
Former Mid Valley coach Frank Pazzaglia on Tomasetti: “Ronny was an excellent receiver. He was equally effective on all three levels of pass receiving – short, intermediate, and deep. Due to his size and toughness, he was also excellent in the crossing passing game . He possessed good speed and exceptional hands. Ron was also a very good pattern receiver as well as a very good blocker and outstanding outside linebacker.
