NAME: Ryan Monk
SCHOOL: Dallas
LAST SEASON: 2014
POSITIONS: DL/OL

Linemen that contribute all four years of high school are hard to find but Ryan Monk did just that for Dallas. Monk played on the offensive line for all four seasons, but it was the defensive side of the ball where he stood out. His senior season, he had 60 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 3 blocked field goals and a forced fumble. For his career, he made 147 tackles, 39 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 4 blocked kicks and 3 forced fumbles. On the offensive line his freshman season, he helped the Mounts average 10.2 yard per carry and play in the district championship game. Monk was a two-time team captain for Dallas.

Monk was an NPF Wyoming Valley Conference Big School first team defensive lineman in 2013 and 2014 and Defense Player of the Year in 2014. He also earned honors as an offensive lineman. Monk was also an NPF All-District 2 defensive lineman both seasons.  He was named an honorable mention all-state defensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Football News his senior season as well as an honorable mention defensive lineman by EasternFootballPA.com. Monk would continue his football career at Division I-FBS Penn State University.

Local Football & Dallas Post Reporter Tom Robinson on Monk: “Ryan Monk was ready as a freshman to battle with the best of the big school linemen in the Wyoming Valley Conference. Over the rest of his high school career he used the combination of strength, balance and footwork that made him a two-time state medalist as a heavyweight wrestler to be one of the district’s top linemen on both sides of the ball.”
