Dunmore has a legacy of lineman who have been dominant on the offensive side of the ball. Nick Shoemaker was actually a Buck lineman who was dominant on the defensive side. Shoemaker helped the Bucks win three straight district titles and achieve a record of 39-4. A three-year defensive starter, Shoemaker had a standout senior season with 60 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He ended his career with over 120 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. Shoemaker started two seasons on the offensive line and the Bucks rushed for over 7,000 yards.
Shoemaker was the 2017 NPF District 2 Lineman of the Year as well as Lackawanna Football Conference Division III first-team defensive lineman and second-team offensive lineman. He was named an all-state defensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Football Writers and first-team defensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Football News in both 2016 and 2017. Shoemaker was named a first-team defensive lineman by EasternPaFootball.com in both 2016 and 2017. He was awarded the Hookey Reap Award for defense for the best lineman in the Lackawanna Football Conference. Shoemaker continues his football career at Division I-FCS Monmouth University where he started every game at defensive end his sophomore season.
