- North Pocono Trojans (12-0), defeated Dallas 38-6 (Preseason Ranking: 3)
This was the year that North Pocono fans were waiting for and it went as planned – an unbeaten season, a division title and a district championship. They left little doubt who the best team in the area was and now are poised to make a state playoff run.
Next up: vs. Bishop Shanahan (8-4) – Friday - Delaware Valley Warriors (7-5), defeated Abington Heights 27-24(Preseason Ranking: 2)
The tough schedule to start the season paid off again as the Warriors reclaimed their district title that eluded them last season. The record might indicate an average team, but DV was above average and was competitive in pretty much every game. They also had a shot for a share of the division title which came down to overtime.
Next up: vs. Hollidayburg (12-0) – (Listen on NPF) – Friday - Abington Heights Comets (9-3) lost to Delaware Valley 27-24 (Preseason Ranking: NR)
Give Abington Heights credit as they were outstanding to start the season despite the loss of all five offensive linemen from 2024 and they were still playing at a high-level when QB Nick Bradley went down with an injury. They got wins over nemesis Valley View and Scranton Prep and were one or two plays away from repeating as district champs.
Season Complete - Pittston Area Patriots (Preseason Ranking: NR)
Pittston Area was the biggest surprise of the season winning the WVC Division 1 title. The Patriots had a senior group that had struggled in recent seasons, but put it all together for a championship season. It was good to see Pittston football back on top.
Season Complete - Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack (8-4), defeated Williamsport 42-14 (Preseason Ranking: 1)
The Wolfpack finally got that elusive subregional title. Many people thought this was the year Wilkes-Barre would dominate, but they were tripped up a couple times in division play. Nonetheless, they will be playing their first state playoff game and that’s an accomplishment for this program.
Next up: vs. State College (9-2) – Saturday - Dallas Mountaineers (6-6), lost to North Pocono 38-6 (Preseason Ranking: 5)
It was rebuilding year for the Mountaineers as they lost most of their offensive production from 2024. They were young, but grew along the way and were still able to make it their third straight district title game and were an overtime two-point conversion stop away from a three-peat in the division.

SMALL SCHOOL
- Scranton Prep Cavaliers (7-5), defeated Berwick 42-7 (Preseason Ranking: 1)
The Cavaliers finished No. 1 again and that’s not surprising despite the record. It wasn’t one of the better regular seasons for Prep, losing three division games, but they matured over the season and were playing their best football in the postseason. Their dominance in Class 3A continued, wiping out the competition in the district playoffs.
Next up: vs Mifflinburg (12-0) – Friday - Berwick Bulldogs (11-1), lost to Scranton Prep 42-7 (Preseason Ranking: 4)
It was a dream season for Berwick until the last game ended up being a nightmare. You still love to see WETSU back on top and this hopefully will revive the program which had struggled in recent years. Coach Curry and his staff can build on this momentum moving forward.
Season Complete - Lackawanna Trail Lions (11-1), defeated Tri-Valley 41-14 (Preseason Ranking: 3)
The program with the best record in the LFC the past five years continues to show how strong the Lions program is. A state run could be in the cards for Trail who have shown they have a superstar and a great offensive line and that sometimes is enough in the Class 1A level to go far.
Next up: vs. Line Mountain (Listen on NPF) – Saturday
- Wyoming Area Warriors (9-2) lost to Scranton Prep 42-0 (Preseason Ranking:2)
The Warriors only losses came to two teams ahead of them in the power rankings. Wyoming Area might be disappointed with the lack of a title this season, which has become the norm, but they still had a very good season.
Season Complete - Lakeland Chiefs (11-1), defeated Dunmore 27-7 (Last week: 5)
Two years of struggles led to determination and division and district titles for the Chiefs. They avenged a ton of losses over that two year span and did it rather easily. especially in the LFC. This group is young and will be a favorite next year as well.
Next up: vs. Lansdale Catholic (10-2) – Saturday - Dunmore Bucks (8-4), lost to Lakeland 2707 (Last week: 6)
The Bucks defense was one of the best in the LFC and the offense did put up points in many of their wins. They just couldn’t get past Lakeland this season, but only started four seniors on both sides of the ball. They will be right in the hunt in 2026.
