2025 PREVIEW
The Chiefs are back on top after capturing both the division and district championships in 2025, adding more hardware to the trophy case at Chapman Lake. Now comes the challenge of staying there. Although Lakeland graduated several key contributors, the Chiefs return an experienced roster and will once again be among the favorites to defend both titles.
Usually, losing a three-year starting quarterback creates major concerns, and Lakeland thought they had the problem solved. But an injury will focus them to look at other options which could include Jackson Pochas moving to the position.
Evan Lonzinski and Nathan Boyarsky step in as the new running backs. The receiving corps should be one of the team’s biggest strengths with returning starters Chase Rosenkrans and Luke McFarland back in the lineup. Jacob Passiment, Adam Bertocki, and Boyarsky provide additional depth. Dylan Loomis also makes the move from the offensive line to tight end.
The offensive line returns three starters, including left tackle Cole Hastings, left guard Austin Tuttle, and right guard Cole Loomis. Jake Warholic is expected to take over at center, while Ben Supeck steps in at right tackle. Morgan Naniewicz, Ethan Linsinbigler, Ben Gross, and Brody Muehleisen add depth up front.
Defensively, Dylan Loomis returns at defensive end, while Hastings is back at defensive tackle. Gross and Muehleisen are expected to compete for the other defensive end position, while Cole Loomis, Tuttle, and Warholic will rotate on the interior.
McFarland is the lone returning starter at linebacker and is projected to play outside alongside either Boyarsky or Mike Barucky. Lonzinski and Thomas Chmil are expected to start at inside linebacker, with Boyarsky also capable of moving inside if needed.
The secondary returns all three starters, with Pochas and Rosenkrans back at cornerback and Spataro returning at safety. Passiment and Bertocki provide depth in the defensive backfield.
Nick Janosky returns to handle the kicking duties for the Chiefs.
QUOTE FROM COACH PIWOWARCZYK: We are excited for the season to get underway. We have some really good pieces to fit in the puzzle, and hopefully we can contend for another championship.
