2026 PREVIEW
Crestwood captured both the division and district championships in 2022, but the Comets have followed that success with three consecutive 5-6 seasons. They believe that trend will come to an end in 2026. An experienced roster, combined with a young core that showed signs of progress last season, has the Comets optimistic about taking the next step.
Jack Rodgers has seen plenty of action at quarterback over the past three seasons, but 2026 will be his first year as the full-time starter. With a strong football IQ and a solid understanding of Crestwood’s single-wing offense, he gives the Comets confidence under center. Teddy Taylor and Ryder Zurawski provide depth at quarterback.
Jake Jeckell returns at running back after rushing for more than 1,300 career yards. Kyle Schade, Amias Ocasio, and Taylor will also see carries. Matt Bealla is back at fullback, with Hayden Cunningham serving as his backup.
With Rodgers moving to quarterback full time, Crestwood will have a new-look receiving corps. Logan Lawson, who started at tight end last season, moves to wide receiver. Braylon Murray, Caden Koziel, and Colton Cameron will also be part of the rotation. Carson Oresick takes over at tight end, with Jake Bechtel providing depth.
The offensive line should be one of the team’s strengths with four returning starters. Back are left tackle Holdin Halpin, left guard Ryan Barna, right guard Andrew Ranieli, and right tackle Matt Rodgers. Cody Kondraski steps in at center, while Dylan Marino adds depth up front.
The defense also returns an experienced group. Oresick is back at defensive end, while Matt Rodgers returns at defensive tackle. Ranieli, Barna, and Bechtel are expected to compete for the other defensive end position, while Joel Lora, Jacob Lapchak, Charles Higgs, and Halpin will be part of the defensive tackle rotation.
Both starting outside linebackers return in Lawson and Bealla, with Houston McGuire and Cunningham providing depth. Cayden Bellas is the projected starter at inside linebacker, while Mariusz Bibla and Kondraski are also in the mix.
Murray returns at cornerback, while Schade, Cameron, Ocasio, and Zurawski provide depth at the position. Rodgers and Jeckell return at safety, with Taylor and Dylan Bellas serving as the backups.
Nathan Ciocco takes over as the Comets’ kicker and punter.
