Every week, we will highlight some of the best special teams performances from the WVC and LFC presented by Northeast Industries. Here is Week 5:
TRUSTIN JOHNSON, Wyoming Area
The Warriors have been very good in all three phases of the game and this week it was Johnson who made a splash play in the special teams. After scoring a rushing touchdown earlier in the quarter, he returned a punt 47 yards for a second touchdown to help the Wyoming Area take down Tunkhannock.
BROCK SIMMS, Berwick
With the Bulldogs looking for their first win of the season and leading 7-0, Simms broke through the Hanover Area line and tackled the punter in the end zone for a safety. Berwick would go on to get that first win and the sophomore would also rush for over 100 yards in the victory.
JACOB WELLS, Western Wayne
The Wildcats have been dominant on offense and on defense so why not add the kicking game that resume. Wells was perfect on his extra points (7 for 7) and finished his night off with a 28-yard field goal in the win over Old Forge.
Honorable Mention: Gavin Anders, Abington Heights – Blocked punt; PK Sam Magnotta, North Pocono – 28-yd field goal; PK Regan Decker, Delaware Valley – 32-yd field goal, 4 for 4 XP; Cael Krushnowski, Old Forge – 90-yd KOR TD;
