Every week, we will highlight some of the best linemen from the WVC and LFC presented by Honesdale National Bank. Here is Week 8:
JEREMY ACKERMAN, Hazleton Area
The Cougars offense has been balanced all season and with a new quarterback starting last week, the offensive line would have to be on top of their game. Ackerman was one of the leaders up front for Hazleton in their win over Pittston. He also contributed on defense on the interior line.
ADYN ANDERSON, Tunkhannock
Tunkhannock wants to run the football and they have relied on their offensive line to give them the ability to accomplish that. Anderson has been one of those anchors on the line to enable the Tigers to move the chains on the ground and helped them to an impressive win last week at Montrose.
PATRICK DICKEL, Dunmore
There were question marks going into the season regarding the Bucks offensive line, but it has stepped up in recent weeks. Dickel has been one of the players in the trenches that has improved and had some key blocks in last week’s win over West Scranton including a big pancake block on a 3rd down conversion.
DAN MURPHY, Valley View
Murphy has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but one reason the Cougars remain a powerful run team is he has started every game this season. He has great size and technique and also has shown to be an effective pass protector for the quarterback’s blind side. It was evident again this week in an upset win over DV.
ASIEL RICHARDS, Abington Heights
The experience of the Comets offensive line has made them more competitive this season and Richards has shown to be a cerebal and physical presence. Abington Heights can run the ball consistently for the first time in years and was dominant in a shutout win over ‘Paupack. Richards also is a presence on the defensive line.
