Every week, we will highlight some of the best linemen from the WVC and LFC presented by Honesdale National Bank. Here is Week 4:
GABE BORIS, Hazleton Area
The Cougars offense has been a work in progress, but Boris has been one of their best lineman through the first four weeks. The senior also has made his impact on defense with five tackles and one TFL from his defensive line position in the win over Berwick.
CHASE DESANTO, Wyoming Area
DeSanto has been one of the best lineman in the WVC in recent years. On offense, he recorded three pancake blocks as the Warriors amounted 461 yards on the ground in the win over Lakeland. Desanto also was good in pass protection limiting pressure on the quarterback and allowing zero sacks on the evening.
NIIKO HAZELTON, Valley View
Valley View has been a ground and pound team going back to since the school was formed over 50 years ago and has been successful doing it. Hazelton was a returning starter from last season and has become a leader on the unit. He has helped the Cougars average over 200 rushing yards per game over the past three contests – all wins.
ROBERT MATTIOLI, Mid Valley
Mid Valley has bullied opponents through the early part of the season, but they showed last Friday they can throw the ball, too. Mattioli was excellent in pass protection this past game as the Spartans throw for 219 yards in the win over Honesdale. He has also been a very good run blocker through the first half of the season.
CHAYSE ROCHE, Carbondale
The Chargers coaching staff knew the strength of the team would be up front and we are seeing that early in the season. Roche helped in run blocking in the win over Holy Cross with three pancake blocks. On defense, he recorded three sacks, four overall tackles, one TFL, and two QB hurries.
