BIG SCHOOL

  1. Delaware Valley Warriors (8-3), defeated Pittston Area 42-7 (Last week: 1)
    The Warriors rolled as expected and now can win their ninth straigtht District 2 title. The blew out Abington Heights in the regular season finale and now they get the Comets at home.
    Next up: vs. Abington Heights (7-4) (Listen on NPF) – Friday
  2. Dallas Mountaineers (11-0), defeated Wallenpaupack 43-11 (Last week: 2)
    The Mountaineers did what they were supposed to do and dominated the No. 8 seed. They face an upstart Nanticoke team that eliminated the defending district champs in double overtime. The battle up from will be interesting as the Trojans have a size advantage.
    Next up: vs. Nanticoke (7-4) – Friday
  3. Wyoming Area Warriors (10-1), defeated North Pocono 31-19 (Last week: 3)
    North Pocono gave the Warriors everything they could handle, but Wyoming Area rode Aaron Crossley as usual. He did leave the game for a stretch, but did return and now they hit the road for the semis.
    Next up: at Valley View (9-2) (Watch on NPF) – Friday
  4. Valley View Cougars (9-2), defeated Berwick 12-7 (Last week: 4)
    The Cougars avoided the upset with a big interception in the 4th quarter, but they have now struggled on offense three of the past four games. The defense has kept them in games.
    Next up: vs. Wyoming Area (10-1) (Watch on NPF) – Friday
  5. Abington Heights Comets (7-4), defeated Scranton 14-6 (Last week: 5)
    The Comets defense came up begin as they did not allow Scranton to score a touchdown for the second time this season. The offense has slowed down with their two top receivers both out for the season.
    Next up: at Delaware Valley (9-3) – Saturday
  6. Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack (6-5), lost to Nazareth 42-6  (Last week: 6)
    The Wolfpack were outmanned down in District 11. It was a roller coaster season for Wilkes-Barre, but they did end up over .500

SMALL SCHOOL

  1. Lackawanna Trail Lions (11-0), defeated Old Forge 40-0 (Last week: 1)
    The Lions are District 2 champions for the second straight year and now will head to suburban Philly to begin their quest for a state title. They will be the favorite on Friday.
    Next up: at Morrisville (6-5) (Listen on NPF) – Friday
  2. Scranton Prep Cavaliers (10-1), defeated Hanover Area 54-0 (Last week: 2)
    The Cavaliers raced out to a 54-0 halftime lead before they let the clock run down in the second half. They are playing as well as anyone and are heavy favorite to repeat as the district champion in Class 3A.
    Next up: vs. Western Wayne (8-3) – Saturday
  3. Dunmore Bucks (9-2), defeated Susquehanna 49-22 (Last week: 3)
    The Bucks have a six-game winning streak and the offense has finally gotten their act together. They get a rematch with rival Riverside who they beat in the regular season by 4 points. This should be another competitive final.
    Next up: vs. Riverside (8-3) (Listen on NPF) – Friday
  4. Western Wayne Wildcats (8-3), defeated Lake-Lehman 21-16 (Last week: 4)
    The Wildcats struggled in the semifinal when RB Josh Vinton left the game. They will need him back and all hands on deck to compete with Prep.
    Next up: at Scranton Prep (10-1) – Saturday
  5. Riverside Vikings (8-3), defeated Mid Valley 28-6 (Last week: 6)
    The Vikings avenged one of the 2023 regular season losses and have a chance to avenge a second. The defense played their best game of the year and will have to repeat that performance to win the title.
    Next up: at Dunmore (9-2) (Listen on NPF) – Friday
  6. Mid Valley Spartans (7-4), lost to Riverside 28-6 (Last week: 5)
    It was a very good season for the Spartans who weren’t expected to do much. They just couldn’t find their offense in the semifinals.
