2023 PREVIEW
The Buckhorns recorded an opening day win in 2022, but then lost 9 straight. Some of that was because of a brutal schedule and some was because of an inexperienced roster. The lumps they took last season should pay off with more competitive play and more polished players on both sides of the ball.
All the skill players return from last season. Drew Kiesendahl now has a year under his belt at quarterback and gives Paupack a dual threat at the position. The backfield is intact with running back Dylan Podrazil and fullback Aiden Pierson returning starters. Mark Nilsen also got playing time last season. Both starting receivers return in Jake Holbert and Michael Passenti. Jordan Santiago is back at tight end. Mason Gonzalez and Aydin Greene will provide depth at receiver while George Rafferty will be the backup at tight end.
The questions will be at the offensive line who has only one starter returning in Ben Ostroski. Jamie Stiner, Justin Kowalik, Tyler Gallo, and Nick Roman should fill in the other four spots with Logan Lemin and Anthony Camardesi.
The Buckhorns will have a new front three with Ostroski, and Roman at the ends and Kowalik at the nose tackle. Sanitago and Rafferty return at outside linebacker while Xaiden Schock is back at inside linebacker. Conan Kier, A.J. Laboy, and Pierson will be considered for the other spot. Shane Madrigal returns at one corner while Greene, Izael Rodriguez, or Gonzalez will fill the other side. Nilsen started at safety last season with Podrazil and Kiesendahl possible options at the other spot.
Gannon Decker is back as the punter and will also add place kicking duties to his responsibilities. Passenti is the long snapper.
