TEAM: Wallenpaupack Buckhorns

COLORS: Purple & White

COACH: Mark Watson,  17th Season (74-89)

PIAA: Class 4A

2022 CONFERENCE: LFC Division 1

2020 RECORD: 4-7 (1-3 in conference)

STADIUM:Wallenpaupack Stadium

Despite some outstanding skill players, the Buckhorns had a disappointing 2021 season because of the inexperience up front. In 2022, the young linemen will benefit from last season. Now, Paupack must fill some holes left by the graduating playmakers.

Plenty of compeition for quarterback as senior Ethan Moses, juniors Shayne Madrigal and Aiden Green and sophomore Drew Kiesendahl are all in the mix. Dylan Podrazil is poised to take over at running back with Mark Nilson also expected to get carries. Aiden Pierson does return as the starting fullback and will be backed up by Antonio Iannetta. A whole new receiving corp will be in the lineup with Andrew Magistro, Michael Passenti, Dominick Cresta, and Mason Clark all fighting for jobs in training camp. Jordan Santiago is back at tight end with George Rafferty and A.J. Laboy backing him up.

The offensive line will be the strength with four of five starters returning including left tackle Ben Ostroski, guards Jacob Gonzalez and Michael Fitzgerald, and center Jake LaBelle. Nick Roman will get the first shot at right tackle.

Nose guard Sam Filip returns for his third year as a starter on the defensive line and is joined by Fitzgerald and LaBelle. Santiago and Iannnetta are back at linebacker with LaBoy, Pierson, Xaiden Schock, George Rafferty and Aiden Robertson all will compete for the other two spots and provide depth. Magistro is the lone returning starter in the secondary with Cresta, Clark, Kiesendahl, and Nilson competing for the other three positions.

Special teams took a big hit with everyone departing, so Brady Reynolds will handle the kicking and punting while Michael Passenti steps in at long snapper.

QUOTE FROM COACH WATSON: We will have good size and strength up front but our skill positions will be very inexperienced. The sooner we can gain experience and feel comfortable at those positions will dictate our season. Our schedule is very difficult again this cycle and we will not have any breathers to assess our personnel so our players will need to perform well early to gain momentum to carry them through the season. On the defensive side we will be good in the front seven but will need to gain experience quickly in the secondary.

Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman – Jake LaBelle
Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman – Ben Ostroski
Honorable Mention Defensive Lineman – Sam Filip
