Every week, we will highlight some of the best special teams performances from the WVC and LFC presented by Figliomeni Pharmacy Care. Here is Week 1:

THOMAS CHERNASKY, Western Wayne
Chernasky blocked a punt against Dunmore that was recovered by Luke Janiszewski to put the game away for the Wildcats as they got a win on opening night 20-2.

GWEN LANGLEY, Wyoming Valley West
Langley became the first female in Wyoming Valley West history to score points. The senior was a perfect 6 for 6 on the evening as the Spartans won 50-6 over West Scranton.

TYLER WINTERS, Honesdale
The Hornets had a rough opener, but Winters, who was a first-team all-star punter in 2020, will be a valuable weapon for a young Honesdale team. He had 5 punts on Friday and averaged close to 40 yars per punt with a long of 56 yds that was downed on the 9 yardline

HONORABLE MENTION: K Roman Levant, Wallenpaupack – 2 field goals 36 & 27 yards; PR: Connor Olisewski, Valley West – 47-yd punt return TD; PR Rocco Pizano, Wyoming Area – 50-yd punt return; PR John Morgan, Wyoming Area – 65-yd punt return
