WEEK 13 Playoffs

No. 3 North Pocono Trojans (10-2) at No. 1 Valley View Cougars (11-1)

John Henzes Veterans Memorial Stadium (Turf), Friday 7pm – Media: NEPAFootball.com
District 2 Class 4A Championship
Series:
Valley View 31-16
Last Meeting: 2019 – Valley View 32-7
Last Week: North Pocono 41, Dallas 26; Valley View 21, Berwick 0
Players To Watch
North Pocono: QB William Soma; Valley View: RB Colin Skeen
The Skinny: For some reason, these two LFC Class 4A teams did not meet in the regular season. They both have won district titles in recent years. The Trojans back in 2016. The Cougars in 2017 & 2018. This should be a defensive battle and a low-scoring game.

No. 2 Wyoming Area Warriors (10-1) at No. 1 Scranton Prep Cavaliers (10-0)

Scranton Memorial Stadium (Turf), Friday 7pm – Media: Stream on Fox56
District 2 Class 3A Championship
Series:
Scranton Prep 8-2
Last Meeting: 2019 – Wyoming Area 27-0
Last Week: Wyoming Area 35, Lakeland 32; Scranton Prep 42, Mid Valley 0
Players To Watch
Wyoming Area: RB Nico Sciandra; Scranton Prep: WR Robert Rossi
The Skinny: Wyoming Area has to find a way slow down London Montgomery. They can match the Cavaliers up front, but the Prep running back is the X factor. Warriors might want to take a page out of the Valley View game plan. Even though Montgomery ran for 262 yards, he was held to 6 yards per carry and two touchdowns, way below his season averages.

Williams Valley Vikings (9-2) vs. Old Forge Blue Devils (10-0)

Dunmore Veterans Memorial Stadium (Turf), Friday 7pm – Media: NEPAFootball.com
PIAA Class 1A First Round
Series:
Williams Valley 1-0
Last Meeting: 2017 – Williams Valley 44-25
Last Week: Williams Valley 28, Tri-Valley 13; Old Forge 55, Belmont Charter 14
Players to Watch
Williams Valley:
RB Alex Achenbach; Old Forge: QB James Sobol
The Skinny: PIAA teased Old Forge telling them they would be home on Friday only to move the game to Dunmore. The Blue Devils smell revenge as they lost in the 2017 PIAA playoffs to the Vikings in the only meeting between the two schools. Old Forge will have the advantage in the trenches so ball security and mistake-free football should help them advance.

State College Little Lions (6-5) vs. Delaware Valley Warriors (9-3)

Harman-Geist Memorial Field – Hazleton (Turf), Friday 7pm – Media: WYNY Stream
PIAA Class 6A First Round
Series:
State College 3-0
Last Meeting: 2019 – State College 38-7
Last Week: State College 17, Williamsport 14; Delaware Valley 35, Hazleton Area 20
Players To Watch
State College:
RB Owen Yurka; Delaware Valley: RB Joey Sciascia
The Skinny: The Little Lions have been a thorn in the Warriors side knocking them out of the state playoffs in 2017, 2018 and 2019. This definitely could be the year to end that streak as DV has won 9 straight games and is well-tested. State College is very limited on offense this season so if DV can score 20+ points, they should win.

Lackawanna Trail Lions (8-3) at Northern Lehigh Bulldogs (9-3)

Northern Lehigh Bulldog Stadium (Turf), Friday 7pm – Media: NEPAFootball.com
PIAA Class 2A First Round
Series: First Meeting
Last week: Lackawanna Trail 14, Dunmore 10; Northern Lehigh 64, Palmerton 34
Players To Watch
Lackawanna Trail: DL R.J. Schirg; Northern Lehigh: QB Dylan Smoyer
The Skinny: Bracket wasn’t kind to the Lions as they get a road game in the first round of the state playoffs. However, Northern Lehigh’s stadium is where Trail got a state playoff win in a hurricane several years back. Maybe they can find some of that magic again.
