2019 Super Six – Week 9

Here are the rankings after Week 9 presented by Al’s Quick Stop:

BIG SCHOOL

  1. Dallas Mountaineers (9-0), defeated Berwick 22-12 (Last Week: 1)
Mounts will have to beat rival Lake-Lehman for the Old Shoe and to cap off a perfect regular season. It will also clinch the No. 1 seed in Class 4A.
    Next up: vs Lake-Lehman (7-2)
  2. Delaware Valley Warriors (8-1) defeated Wyoming Valley West 49-0 (Last Week: 2)
Can Scranton challenge the Warriors in Week 10?  It could set the table for a rematch in the district championship game.
    Next up:  vs Scranton (6-3)
  3. Valley View Cougars (8-1), defeated Scranton 28-14 (Last Week: 3)
It wasn’t pretty but the Cougars finish 3-1 in a four-game stretch of playing four teams that have a combined 6 losses. Expect a couple rematches on the table in the playoffs.
Next up: vs North Pocono (5-4)
  4. Berwick Bulldogs (7-2) lost to Dallas 22-12  (Last Week: 4)
Berwick had the lead against Dallas in the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold on so the Dawgs still haven’t been able to solve the Mountaineers or Valley View the last two seasons. They will get another shot in the playoffs.
    Next up: vs Wilkes-Barre (6-3)
  5. Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack (6-3) defeated Williamsport 28-7 (Last Week: NR)
The Wolfpack can clinch a home game in the District 2 playoffs with a win in Week 10, but they will have to do it on the road at Crispin Field. A loss by Scranton will also probably get the home game for Wilkes-Barre.
    Next up: at Berwick (7-2)
  6. Scranton Knights (6-3) lost to Valley View 28-14 (Last Week: 5)
Scranton’s tough schedule to the end season will probably make the Knights road warriors unless they can end DV’s eight-game winning streak.
Next up: at Delaware Valley (8-1)

SMALL SCHOOL

  1. Wyoming Area Warriors (8-1), defeated Hanover Area 56-0 (Last Week: 1)
The rivalry game this Friday will be a good one as Pittston has gotten on a roll. Warriors want to secure that No. 1 seed in Class 3A.
Next up: vs Pittston Area (4-5)
  2. Scranton Prep Cavaliers (7-2), defeated Lakeland 49-7 (Last Week: 2)
Cavaliers still have a chance to get a bye week in Week 11, but will have to do it against a Western Wayne team that has been dominant most of the season. This could be a playoff preview as well.
Next up: at Western Wayne (8-1)
  3. Western Wayne Wildcats (8-1), defeated Dunmore 42-28 (Last Week: 3)
Western Wayne made som big plays late to pull away from Dunmore. Now, the Wildcats will play for a bye week and possibly the No. 1 seed if they can beat Prep.
Next up: vs Scranton Prep (7-2)
  4. Lake-Lehman Black Knights (7-2), defeated Nanticoke 35-0 (Last Week: 4)
The Black Knights haven’t been talked about in Class 3A with three other good teams above them, but they can get a home game in the playoffs if things go right for them.
    Next up: at Dallas (9-0)
  5. Old Forge Blue Devils (7-1), defeated Northwest 13-0 (Last Week: 6)
The Blue Devils have clinched a playoff spot and the No. 1 seed in Class 1A, but the opponent won’t be known until the Northwest game is complete on Friday.
    Next up: at Montrose (0-8)
  6. Dunmore Bucks (5-4), lost to Western Wayne 42-28 (Last Week: 5)
Dunmore once again hung in there with a very good opponent and once again special teams killed the Bucks as a fake punt set up a huge touchdown for Western Wayne. Bucks will try to clinch No. 1 seed in Class 2A on Friday.
    Next up: vs Lakeland (5-4)
