WALLENPAUPACK 21, NORTH POCONO 14

In a thriller at Wallenpaupack that came down to the final minutes, the Buckhorns came from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat visiting North Pocono 21-14. Wallenpaupack moves to 3-1 on the season, notching their third consecutive victory.

In a game dominated by outstanding quarterback play, North Pocono drew first blood on a 2-yard burst by sophomore signal-caller, Chase Zimmerman. Sam Magnotta’s point after was true and with 4:59 left in the opening period, the Trojans led 7-0.

The Buckhorns countered with a drive of their own, capped off by the first of Ed Kiesendahl’s tow touchdown runs, this one coming from just 3 yards out. The quarter ended with the two squads tied at 7-7.

The only scoring in the third quarter came on am 11-yard strike from Zimmerman to Mike Stout. With just 3:18 left in the third stanza, the Trojans were back in front 14-7.

The final period belonged to Wallenpaupack. Burly senior quarterback, Drew Kiesendahl, who made back plays with his feet on numerous scrambles throughout the contest, scored for the Buckhorns with 5:54 left in the contest. A bad snap on the point after kept the Trojans in front with a narrow 14-13 advantage.

Ed Kiesendahl scored the go-ahead touchdown for Wallenpaupack, scooting through the North Pocono line from 16 yards out with just 2:24 left in the football game. Drew Kiesendahl charged in with the two-point conversion, putting the Buckhorns in the lead at 21-14.

North Pocono drove the length of the field. On 4^th and 1 from the Wallenpaupack 5-yard line, freshman tailback Joe Briskie was thrown for a loss, sealing the win for the Buckhorns and handing the Trojans their first loss of the season.

Wallenpaupack (3-1, 1-0) takes to the road next weekend in a big Division 1 contest against Delaware Valley. North Pocono (3-1, 0-1) will attempt to rebound at home on Friday evening against Abington Heights.
