Wyoming Area coach Randy Spencer on Ambrosino: “Derek has been an impact player in our program since his sophomore year. As a senior, he was dominant on both sides of the ball. At tight end, he was an outstanding end line blocker, who developed into a clutch receiver making big plays in critical situations throughout the season, like his game tying touchdown reception on fourth and goal late in the fourth quarter of the state championship game. Defensively, he was one of the best edge defenders in the state. Derek was physical in his block destruction, very difficult to reach, and had great get off and finish to his pass rush. West Virginia University is getting an outstanding student athlete, strong leader with great work ethic, and high character young man.”
