NAME: Mike Boland

Dunmore has produced many good linemen over the program’s history and Mike Boland is right at the top of the list. He was a dominant run-blocker leading as the Bucks rushed for over 3,200 yards his junior season and just under 4,000 yards his senior season, which included two 1,000-yard rushers. Dunmore reached the PIAA Class A Championship game in 2012. It was Boland’s defense that got him noticed his senior season as he ended up with 67 tackles, 14 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. Dunmore also used Boland as a kicker his senior year and he scored 32 points.
Boland was named first-team All-State defensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers, Pennsylvania Football News and EasternPaFootball.com. He was NPF All-District 2 in 2012 and was first-team defensive line and offensive line in Lackawanna Football Conference Division II. He was also first-team offensive line his junior season. Boland was named the Hookey Reap Award Winner on both offense and defense which is given to the best lineman in the Lackawanna Football Conference. Boland originally enrolled at the University of Connecticut to continue his football career, but ended up playing at JUCO Lackawanna College and Division 1 FCS Bethune-Cookman University.
Former Dunmore coach Jack Henzes on Boland: “Mike Boland was an excellent student athlete and he had outstanding speed and quickness which enable him to recognize plays very quickly. Michael was an explosive player for his size.”
