He was also a 2018 NPF All-District 2 defensive lineman. Smith was named an all-state defensive lineman by the Pennsylvania Football Writers and a second-team all-state defensive tackle by the Pennsylvania Football News in 2018. He was also named first-team defensive line by EasternPAFootball.com in 2018. Smith continued his football career at Division 1 FCS Monmouth University.
Wallenpaupack coach Mark Watson on Smith: “Chance is a great kid with an infectious personality. He has a great combination of size and speed. His athleticism as a big guy was what earned him all his accolades in HS and the praise from our coaching staff. I am really hoping he can break into the starting lineup this year as a redshirt freshman so we could watch him against (Rashawn) Battle (former Paupack teammate) when they play Rutgers to start the season.”
