J.C. Gaughan was a football player who was able to play many different roles for North Pocono. And he excelled at all of them. Gaughan was a standout linebacker and helped lead the Trojans to a District 2 Class 4A title as a junior leading the team with 14 sacks. His senior season saw him named a team captain and he took over the offense, running for 1,062 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. Overall, he finished his career on the defensive side of the ball with 174 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and 17 sacks.
Gaughan was named an NPF 2017 Lackawanna Football Conference Division II first-team linebacker and second-team running back and a second-team linebacker in 2016. He was also named a second-team all-state linebacker by the Pennsylvania Football News and honorable mention linebacker by EasternPaFootball.com in 2017. Gaughan was selected to play in the Dream Game and continued his football career at Division 1 FCS Colgate University where he has started 9 games at linebacker in his first two seasons.
North Pocono coach Greg Dolhon on Gaughan: “He was very active and physical from day one. His junior year, he had 14 sacks and his senior had over 1,000 yards rushing which shows his versatility. He was an emotional leader for us and someone you can count on to set the tone of a game. He will have a great career at Colgate.”
