NAME: Tyler Hughes
SCHOOL: West Scranton
LAST SEASON: 2010
POSITIONS: QB/DB

A multi-threat quarterback can take over games and Tyler Hughes was that type of player for West Scranton. A team captain his senior season, Hughes threw for 2,320 yards and 28 touchdowns. He ran for 1,406 yards and 20 touchdowns leading the Invaders to the district title game. Hughes threw for 1,941 yards and 23 touchdowns his junior season while rushing for 422 yards. He also played in the defensive backfield for West.

Hughes was named NPF 2010 Lackawanna Football Conference Division I Offensive Player of the Year and first-team quarterback. He was named an honorable mention all-state quarterback by the Pennsylvania Football News in 2010 and an honorable mention quarterback by EasternPAFootball.com. Hughes played in the Lions Club Dream Game and continued his football career at Division III Cortland State University where he played quarterback.

NPF Football’s Chris Kucharski on Hughes: “It was like watching a video game when you saw Tyler on the field. His playmaking ability was uncanny. West Scranton, who was known for three downs and cloud of dust, had a high-power offense that took the LFC by storm. Unfortunately, the Invaders ran into the Abington football machine of the early decade.”
