NORTH POCONO 48, WYOMING VALLEY WEST 0

In Moscow, the Trojans of North Pocono continued their early season dominance of the Wyoming Valley Conference as they trounced winless Wyoming Valley West by the score of 48-0. The win kept the Trojans perfect at 3-0 as they look forward to their league schedule which begins next week.

The powerful Trojans managed to score 4 touchdowns in the first quarter primarily by virtue of a punishing ground game. Jayden Taylor did the honors on North Pocono’s first possession, rolling in from 2 yards away. Shane Youngblood’s extra point made it 7-0 in favor of the Trojans.

The next two scores came courtesy of senior running back, Josiah Gray. On the Trojans’ next possession, Gray covered the final 20 yards to extend the Trojan lead to 14-0. After regaining possession, Gray burst through the Spartans’ line and raced 70 yards to paydirt. North Pocono moved their advantage to 21-0 with more than half of the first quarter still to play.

Before the initial stanza came to a close, North Pocono turned to the electrifying Cole West. The junior accepted a Valley West punt and scooted 59 yards to thrill the home crowd. The extra point concluded the first quarter at 28-0.

The Trojans ensured that the second half would be played under the mercy rule by adding a touchdown in the second quarter. Though not needed to throw much on this night, quarterback Cole Zimmerman hit burly tight end Evan Wolff for a 15-yard touchdown strike. One more extra point made the halftime score 35-0.

To begin the second half, Wolf continued to cement his reputation as a threat from anywhere on the field. He took the second half kickoff and weaved his way to a thrilling 85-yard touchdown trek. The Trojans were able to add one more score as the reserves were on the field to finish the game at 48-0.

The Trojans will remain at home next weekend to face the Buckhorns of Wallenpaupack who will arrive with a 2-1 record. Valley West will continue to look for its first victory when they travel to Pittston Area to face the 2-1 Patriots.
