Wilkes-Barre found itself overmatched in its Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state playoff debut.

D’Antae Sheffey carried 13 times for 137 yards and four first-half touchdowns and the State College defense smothered the Wolfpack on the way to a 52-0 romp in a Class 6A game at Milton.

Sheffey, a Syracuse commit, scored the game’s first three touchdowns on short runs to send the Little Lions on their way to leads of 28-0 after one quarter and 45-0 at halftime. The entire second half was played under the running clock of the Mercy Rule.

District 6 champion State College (10-2) limited Wilkes-Barre Area to 36 yards total offense, 29 passing and seven rushing, and three first downs.

Connor Kulka hit Hank Lustig with a 37-yard pass for the fourth touchdown of the first quarter, then Lustig took a punt 79 yards for a score in the opening minute of the second quarter.

Shane Markowski added a 40-yard field goal midway through the quarter and Sheffey ran 9 yards for his longest touchdown.

Zach Spicer tacked on a 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Wilkes-Barre, which finished 8-5, never got closer than the State College 47.
