WILKES-BARRE 42 WEST SCRANTON 14

In Scranton, the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack bounced back from a tough loss to Dallas by sending the Invaders to their fourth consecutive loss by the score of 42-14. The win improves the Wolfpack’s record to 3-2.

While the night featured plenty of heroics from stellar Wolfpack signal caller Jake Howe, it was the shifty Davon Underwood who got Wilkes-Barre on the board first. Underwood eluded several Invader defenders en route to a 20-yard touchdown gallup. Jaedyn Sanchez added the extra point to give the Wolfpack a 7-0 lead with 9:52 still left to play in the opening stanza.

After regaining possession of the football, it was time for Howe to shine. The standout quarterback raced 19 yards around right end untouched to add to the Wolfpack lead. It was 14-0 with 6:05 on the first quarter clock.

The Wolfpack would sandwich two touchdowns late in the second quarter around a West Scranton tally to take a commanding lead to the locker room. Howe chalked up his first touchdown pass of the evening, spotting Gene Ardo behind the Invader secondary from 20 yards away. The point after made it 21-0 with 3:08 left before the half.

It was then that West struck to get on the board. Quarterback Jake DeLuca connected with Kaz Colbert on a 75-yard pitch and catch to narrow the Wolfpack lead to two scores. Wilkes-Barre led 21-7 with 1:52 left before intermission.

After a kick return gave the Wolfpack great starting field position, Howe went to work again. The senior found Treyvon Gembitski for the first of their two scoring aerials, this one coming from 20 yards away. Sanchez added the point after to give the Wolfpack a 28-7 lead at the half.

The Wolfpack were able to score twice during the third quarter to send the game to the mercy rule. It was the familiar combination of Howe to Gembitski that kicked off the second half scoring for Wilkes-Barre. The two clicked from 5 yards away, making the score 35-7 with 2:44 left to play in the 3^rd.

The final score of the night for the Wolfpack came from Khalil Smith, their junior running back. Smith put the finishing touches on a Wilkes-Barre drive and Sanchez stayed perfect on the evening to extend the lead to 42-7 before the Invaders scored in the 4^th.

Wilkes-Barre will return home to face conference rival Hazleton Area while West Scranton will host Mid-Valley in Week 6.
