WILKES-BARRE AREA 35, CRESTWOOD 7

Jake Howe threw for two touchdowns and ran for another Friday night as Wilkes-Barre Area secured third place in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 with a 35-7 victory over host Crestwood.

Davon Underwood carried 12 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns as the Wolfpack completed its division schedule with a 3-2 record.

Howe went 8-for-16 passing for 101 yards and picked up 31 rushing yards on seven tries.

The Wolfpack was in control from the start while dropping the Comets to 1-3 in the division and 4-5 overall.

Underwood opened the scoring on a 28-yard run just 1:14 into the game.

Howe found Jonathan Otway-Kellom with a 26-yard touchdown pass for a 14-0 lead after one quarter. His 1-yard run with 8:03 left in the second quarter made it 21-0 at halftime.

Wilkes-Barre Area pushed the game into the Mercy Rule with 3:17 left in the third quarter on a 6-yard Howe pass to Gino Dalessandro and a 21-yard run by Underwood.

Crestwood broke the shutout in the last minute of the third quarter on a 67-yard run by Matthew Bealla.

Wilkes-Barre Area (6-3) concludes the regular season Friday by hosting what could be the first of two meetings with Williamsport (4-5) in the next three weeks. The teams will be seeded 1-2 in the four-team District 2-4 Class 6A Subregional playoffs.

Crestwood wraps up its WVC Division 1 schedule at Wyoming Valley West (1-3, 1-8).
