TUNKHANNOCK 42, NANTICOKE 6

Tunkhannock used a fast start and a relentless rushing attack to take control early and never let go, rolling to a victory over Nanticoke on Friday night.

The Tigers struck quickly in the opening quarter, marching downfield twice to build a 13-0 lead. Quarterback Zach Latwinski directed the offense with poise, mixing in timely throws to keep the Trojan defense off balance. Running back Lucas Ciprich provided the muscle, powering through defenders on his way to a long touchdown run that broke the game open.

By halftime, Tunkhannock had stretched its advantage to 21-0, establishing both rhythm and dominance on both sides of the ball. The defense swarmed to the ball, forcing punts and stifling Nanticoke’s attempts to generate consistent yardage.

The Tigers put the game completely out of reach in the third quarter. Latwinski connected on a scoring strike through the air and Ciprich added another punishing run, as the lead ballooned past 30 points. By the time the fourth quarter began, the only suspense left was whether Tunkhannock’s defense would preserve the shutout.

Nanticoke managed to break through late, finding the end zone in the final quarter to avoid being blanked. Still, the Trojans were outmatched for most of the night, dropping to 0-4 on the season.

Tunkhannock, meanwhile, evened its record at 2-2 and showcased a formula that could carry them forward — a balanced offense, opportunistic defense, and the ability to strike quickly when momentum swings in their favor.

The Tigers visit Wyoming Area next Friday while Nanticoke will travel to Crestwood.
