RIVERSIDE 60, MONTROSE 6

MONTROSE – Carmelo Barnett and Brayden Rose showed off their versatility Thursday night as Riverside kicked off Week Five with a 60-6, non-league romp over host Montrose.
Barnett scored touchdowns on a pass reception, a run and an interception return. Rose threw for three touchdowns, ran for one and helped set up scores with an interception and as a return man.
The game was halted with 6:46 remaining after a series of injuries left Montrose (1-4) shorthanded.
Riverside (4-1) had four different players run for touchdowns and four different players catch passes for scores.
Barnett scored in the first quarter on his only reception, added a touchdown in the second quarter on the first of his two carries and took an interception 75 yards for a third-quarter touchdown.
Rose was 5-for-8 for 98 yards passing and was the game’s leading rusher with 89 yards on six carries. Playing only in the first half, he had three tackles, forced a fumble, assisted on a tackle for a loss and intercepted a pass along with returning two punts for 41 yards.
The Vikings opened leads of 20-0 after one quarter and 47-0 at halftime.
Jared Jackson scored on a run and a pass reception.
Charlie Anstett also ran for a score. Mitchell Muskey caught one of Rose’s touchdown passes. Dionisius Ang aught a pass from Carter Whetstone for the final score.
Montrose is home again Sept. 26 against Carbondale (3-1).
Riverside travels to Susquehanna (0-4) for its Sept. 27 Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 opener.
