NORTH POCONO 42, VALLEY VIEW 10

Cole West changed the game with two plays. The junior standout intercepted a pass before halftime and returned it for a touchdown and then ran the second half kickoff back for another score to help North Pocono remain unbeaten with a 42-10 victory.

Valley View took the lead in the first quarter with a Braden Loff 30-yard field goal.

North Pocono finally put a scoring drive together in the early second quarter. The Trojans scored on a Josiah Gray 6-yd run that finished off a 10-play, 67 yard drive for a 7-3 lead.

Both teams went three and out on their next drives, but it was a Henry Wolff 67-yard punt that pinned the Cougars at their own 6. Valley View ran the ball twice, but on a 3rd and 3, sophomore quarterback threw the ball in the middle of the field where West was waiting and the Trojans safety returned it 21-yard for a touchdown and a 14-3 lead at half.

West then returned the second half kickoff 87 yards for another score and all of the sudden a one-score game was now 21-3. The Trojans rolled from there. Two Valley View punts gave North Pocono short fields and they scored on their next two drives – Gray from 10 yards for his second score of the evening and then a Chase Zimmerman 1-yard plunge.

Valley View would add a late touchdown in the third quarter when Brown found Colin Witkowski for a 13-yard connection, but it was too late for the Cougars.

Clavo Slater added a late touchdown run for North Pocono to finish the scoring.

North Pocono will back on the road next week at Scranton while Valley View journeys to Delaware Valley.
