Mid Valley quarterback Brett Yanoski threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns as the Spartans earned their first-ever Eastern Conference Class 3A championship with a 35-0 shutout of Carbondale Area on Friday night at Cerra Sports Complex.
Yanoski completed 11 of 20 passes, connecting with five receivers as Mid Valley (5-6) totaled 345 yards of offense. The Spartans opened with a 70-yard drive capped by Yanoski’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Rhys Williams, then added scores on a 10-yard pass to Nick Hricenak and a 11-yard fumble return by Adam Pezanowski to lead 21-0.
Just before halftime, Yanoski hit Aiden Willson for a 17-yard touchdown, and tailback Mason Vinansky closed out the scoring with a 32-yard run in the fourth quarter. Vinansky finished with 141 yards on 16 carries.
Carbondale Area (6-5) managed just 132 total yards, including 124 on the ground, as Mid Valley’s defense dominated throughout to secure the championship win.
