LAKELAND 28, DUNMORE 14

In a hard-fought home game Friday night, Lakeland nailed down a 28–14 victory over Dunmore, handing the Bucks a tough loss in LFC Division II play.

Lakeland quarterback David Naniewicz ran for three touchdowns as the Chiefs’ balance of attack and opportunistic defense proved the difference, overcoming Dunmore’s spirited fight to close out the win.

Lakeland jumped out early and never relinquished control. The Chiefs struck first on  Naniewicz 2-yard touchdown run. Dunmore answered in the second quarter when Logan Miller picked up teammate Brandon Mecca’s fumble at the two yardline and rumbled into the end zone for a touchdown and tie game.

The Chiefs would get the lead back with a 16-yard touchdown scamper, but the Bucks came right back with a Ryan Mecca 16-yd run right before half and tie at 14-14

In the second half, Lakeland continued to manage the game well, converting key third downs and capitalizing on turnovers. Naniewicz hit the end zone for the third time on a 1-yard plunge to give the Chiefs the lead for good.

Gavin Roberts added a 54-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter to seal the victory.

Lakeland wins their division opener and now is 5-1 on the season and will be at Honedale next Saturday afternoon. Dunmore dropped to .500 and will host Mid Valley next Friday night.
