WILLIAMSPORT 28, HAZLETON AREA 7

Giovanni White ran for three touchdowns while surpassing 200 yards rushing Friday night to lead Williamsport to its second straight victory over a former Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 rival as the Millionaires defeated visiting Hazleton Area, 28-7.

Williamsport, a District 4 school, left the conference following the 2023 season. The Millionaires opened their schedule last week by beating Wyoming Valley West. The Cougars and Spartans were the only teams they defeated in WVC games in 2023.

White scored on the game’s first play with a 74-yard run and added a 15-yard touchdown before the first quarter was over.

Freddy Corrado pulled Hazleton Area within 14-7 at halftime on a 1-yard run late in the second quarter.

White scored from the 1 in the third quarter the Tevin Williams passed 27 yards to Brayden Ungard for a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Williamsport (2-0) plays Central Mountain (0-2) Friday.

Hazleton Area (0-2) is home for a non-league game against West Scranton (1-1) Friday.
