CRESTWOOD 49, WESTERN WAYNE 7

At Western Wayne, Wyoming Valley Conference heavyweight Crestwood scored early and often to win their second consecutive game over the Wildcats in an interleague contest. Western Wayne lost their third straight to fall to 1-3 on the season.

As advertised, athletic quarterback Jaden Shedlock made all the plays when necessary for the Comets, playing a role in all five first half touchdowns for Crestwood. The visiting Comets raced to a 28-0 first quarter lead to establish dominance early.

Crestwood wasted no time in putting their stamp on the action, driving to a score on their opening possession. Shedlock snuck over from a yard away and Cooper Laubach added the first of 7 extra points to make it 7-0.

Shedlock then moved to the air, finding the speedy Jack Rodgers twice for touchdowns. Shedlock’s first strike was for 50 yards as he twisted a spiral to Rodgers down the sideline for the score, making it 14-0. Then, the combination clicked once again from 21 yards out to push the Comets’ advantage to three touchdowns.

Shedlock’s final tally of the first quarter came when he bullied across from 4 yards away for his 5^th rushing touchdown of the season. Once again, Laubach’s extra point was on the money to make it 28-0 Crestwood after a quarter.

The crafty signal caller ensured that the game would be in mercy rule throughout the second half when he hit favorite target, Giovanni Barna from 12 yards away to extend the Comets’ lead to 35-0 as the teams headed to the locker rooms. Shedlock’s three scoring strikes ran his total to 7 on the season.

The only scoring of the third period belonged to the Wildcats as Jack Grodack pushed the ball over from a yard away, making the score 35-7 in favor of the Comets.

Crestwood was able to add two additional scores in the final quarter to complete the scoring on the evening. Amias Ocasio got into the act for Crestwood, carrying it in on a 6-yard jaunt. Teammate Teddy Taylor followed suit from 9 yards out as Crestwood’s lead ballooned to 49-7, the final score.

The Comets will return home in Week 5, looking for their third consecutive victory when they host Nanticoke Area. Western Wayne will go on the road on Friday to face winless Old Forge.
