A sluggish start turned into a dominant finish for Berwick on Friday night, as the Bulldogs rode a punishing ground attack to a 24–7 victory over Lake-Lehman in the 2025 season opener.
The Black Knights struck first after forcing a fumble on Berwick’s opening drive. Running back Alex Smith capped the short field with a four-yard touchdown run, giving Lake-Lehman a 7–0 lead late in the first quarter.
Berwick answered just before halftime. The Bulldogs moved into scoring range in the closing minute of the second quarter, and kicker Caleb Yost converted a 29-yard field goal to trim the deficit to 7–3 at the break.
The momentum shifted completely in the third quarter. Senior running back Ty’Meere Wilkerson scored on runs of three and one yard to give Berwick its first lead and extend the advantage to 17–7. Wilkerson finished the night with 126 rushing yards on 19 carries, along with a reception for 13 yards.
The Bulldogs sealed the victory early in the fourth quarter when freshman quarterback Brady Cleaver broke free on a 62-yard touchdown run, stretching the margin to 24–7. From there, Berwick’s defense clamped down and kept the Black Knights from mounting any comeback.
Berwick will host Mid Valley next Friday whole Lake-Lehman travels to Shamokin.
